YAGUCHI, Takaharu (Kobe University)
Basic theory of the finite element method and the finite element exterior calculus

Abstract: Finite element exterior calculus is a framework for deriving finite element schemes for a certain class of elliptic partial differential equations. In particular, the stability and the consistency of the derived numerical methods are guaranteed using the Hodge theory. In this series of talks, an overview of this framework will be provided along with the basic theory of the finite element method.

Description of physical equations in differential form and simulations based on discrete differential forms

Abstract: Analytical mechanics can be expressed in differential forms and extended to dissipative systems. You can naturally transform the equations described in differential forms into discrete differential forms. We will show these procedures and simulations using this discretization.
